believe it or not , it could be the battery causing both problems... if it doesn't have enough power to crank the motor fast enough, it will be hard to start... i had the same issue with my 996 recently... over time it had slowly started cranking slower and i didn't notice it cause it happened over a period of time. put the 999's bat in it and it cranked like three times faster and fired almost immediately! check the charging system also to make sure its fully charging the bat...

i almost stooped low enough to take mine to wilsons but i didn't! i bought a scan tool program off ebay and fixed it myself. i have never used them but i was gonna hit up a&s ducati in roseville and see what they were all about... what kind of problem are you having?
