I am heading out for some dirty riding. I am going this Saturday (4/37). Probably leave at about 9:00 am. Not sure where I am going yet. I am thinking either Bald Mt, Miami Trails, or may do the trail out to Red Lake.

as of right now I am riding solo which I am not a huge fan of. So if anyone wants to join let me know. I've got a spot on my trailer for 1 more bike.

Or if someone has a truck we can hook up my trailer and load bikes in a truck.

I've had my bike for 2 months and haven't got to really ride it yet.

I wanted to let you all know for your plans this saturday that Bald is closed from all sides, and red lake is too. I know this because I also 4 wheel Bald. It is very unusual that they close Bald, but they have until 5/30/2013. Red is always closed through the spring runoff. Miami is your only choice of the ones you mentioned.

Yeah after I wrote it I got to thinking that Red would be closed still. But I was not aware that Bald is closed. Isn't Bald normally open year round? Why did they close it this year?

Thanks for the heads up.

The run off combined with lots of use caused the FS to shut it down abnormally to protect the trail from damage. There are areas in the trees where the seasonal creek runs that some people make bypasses to get through the area and end up widening the trail. Not good! I was planning on wheeling May 4th up Bald and it is a no go now. I do know that trails are important to take care of and carelessness will further close areas of riding/wheeling for us all. There is no snow on top of Bald, as I was just up there in the beginning of March. Rock Creek road is even closed for protection.

Another note: I went to Prairie City SVRA for the first time with my son(9). We had a blast. He loves hill climbs!

Had a great day of riding!!!! I was about to load up and head home when Will finally showed up. So I stayed and rode another couple hours...I was pretty much exhausted and my forearms kept cramping up hahahaha.

And if I can get my stupid POS computer and youtube to work I'll upload some vids.

Ok, I'll give you a ring in the morning. I could probably squeeze that DRZ in between the two bikes, possibly.

Lol, nope! now I have to Google that never heard of it.

This is replacing my Husky

Edit, Nope not a super bike, a dirty bike. I like dirt boogers too much to get on a sport bike and I HATE blacktop, Im a sissy there.
Not a Ducati, origins go further back and they have never changed hands (like Husky just did, AGAIN! Screwed on my bike now)

Cool! Im scheduled to be camp/riding in Big Bear with a bunch I met in Death Valley in March this weekend. Hoping Paso calls with the bike by then, its going to kill me if I have to take the Husky.

Dove Springs? Holly smokes dude, its like 300 degrees there now. Think higher!

So why the change of heart on the Husky?

So why the change of heart on the Husky?

They dropped the 449 and 511 from the product line when they sold to ktm. It will be a boat anchor in a matter of three years with no parts or engine parts available. They are dumping everything BMW designed.

They dropped the 610 years ago and I can still get any part I need for it? Just ordered a bunch actually. Me thinks you just wanted a shiny new toy!

Nothing wrong with that and if I had to choose a woods bike available on the market today the Beta would be one of my first choices, they make very nice equipment. Congrats on the new bike.

So they are dropping it? On their website there is still a 2013 TE449 and TE511....

Either way congrats on the Beta!!!!! From the reviews I've seen sounds like a pretty sweet bike.

I really wish I could go spend a week riding all the bikes back to back and see what I really like. I need a job as a test rider!!! I'd be the slow guy. So if you crash lots and are a very average rider look at my reviews!!!!!

610 was not a BMW design and many more were sold. They have publicly stated the 2013 will be the last 449 511 around, they are also dumping that ugly 650. The 449 511 use Taiwan motors and they wont be continuing.
And your right, me likes shiny new things! ;)

One day I hope to be able to buy a bike new. I am so sick of buying old beat up stuff that is a constant chore to keep up on and fix someone else's problems.
