it's just past Coarsegold. I don't think there is a good sign marking it, but I always remembered it right past Coarsegold there is a hiking trail to the right of the road ( you can see the trail sign clearly), and it's barely past it on the left hand side. there are a lot of places to drive in that place, the fire road goes for miles. I had never seen a ranger any of the times when i used to go there. Ive been thinking of getting another dirt bike just to go there , i always enjoyed the trails, some of them were pretty challenging.

It's up Hwy 41 past Oakhurst and just a bit past the Bass Lake turn off on the left hand side of the road.

To avoid rangers I would park anywhere other than the main staging area, kamook or something like that. I would pull back into the fire roads a bit and find a campsite to stage at away from everyone, get on your bike and ride, yeehaw. Don't know if you'll see any rangers this time of year or not? There used to be one that patrolled on a sweet KTM.

Are you heading up tomorrow? I just got a new header and pipe on the CRFx and I'm dying to ride her.

There are three entrances from 41 and the first 2 are actually marked. I would bet the third entrance is under snow right now though. :D

I wasn't planning on it but am definitely down if you're heading that way. I need to get out and clean my damn air cleaner now, doh!

I'm good to leave out of Sanger any time after 7 or so and can meet ya at the 22 mile house north of road 15 just where hwy 41 starts to get curvy about 40 minutes after I leave Sanger. I think the 22 mile house is a Valero's gas station now. What cha think?

What time did you wanna get going?

When do you wanna go Will? I went 3 weeks ago and the trails are gnarly right now. Came home with a minor groin injury.

Just in case you wanted to go up to Miami trails Will, I set the odometer today. The Miami turn is about 4 miles past the 222 exit to Bass Lake. Just keep going on 41. You will see a small brown sign for Lewis Creek hiking trail. Then a couple turns later you will see a small brown sign with a pic of a motorcycle that says Miami Trails. You will then make a left. Take that gravel road back and you will see the staging area. Just FYI, it is supposed to snow there tonight.
