DATES SET FOR 2010 MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND AT MAZDA RACEWAY LAGUNA SECA

MONTEREY, Calif. (July 28, 2009) – Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca officials today announced July 23-25, 2010 will be the dates for the sixth annual Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, featuring the MotoGP World Championship.

“We are pleased with the new date and this should be great for the community,” said Gill Campbell , CEO/general manager for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “The 2009 event had everything from Yamaha Legends in SuperKarts, the Mayor announcing July 5th as Valentino Rossi Day and competitive racers from all over the world that our fans can expect even more in 2010.”

Dorna’s CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta adds: “During the past five years, our relationship with Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca has proved to be a significant and reliable partner for MotoGP with lots of fan interest in the MotoGP World Championship.”

The 2010 race marks the sixth consecutive visit for MotoGP teams and riders to the historic Monterey circuit and switches to a later weekend in July. The date for the event is tentative, subject to the release of the full FIM calendar in September.

Tickets for the event go on sale this October. Premier/Reserved camping and hospitality tickets go on sale October 21 at 8:00 a.m. PST by phone only at (800) 327-7322, while all other tickets – general admission, grandstand, paddock, parade lap and parking – go on sale October 26 by phone or at www.mazdaraceway.com. Renewal forms will be sent to current Premiere/Reserved camping and hospitality customers in August.

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was established in 1957. The world-renowned raceway has been operated since its inception by the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), a not-for-profit 501C(4) corporation. Each race season, SCRAMP donates its net proceeds to the volunteer groups that help put on the races.

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s world-class 2009 racing schedule includes the 36th Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races August 14-16 and the Monterey Sports Car Championships featuring the American Le Mans Series October 9-11.

Who else is goin? It would be nice to see some CVR'ers there next year.

Yes sir. Well, we actually had one in turn 9,10,11 campground. This year we asked for an upgrade and got premiere at turn 5.

^^^^ sorry, I had to.

Reserved spots are all sold. Usually about 10 spots become available each year so they are very hard to come by.

There is camping available at www.laguna-seca.com or 1800-327-SECA but there are no reserved spots left.
Give them a call, I am sure there will be spots available at Archery.

Camping spots at GP are normally passed on from generation to generation. Ian got his spot by using patience, cunning and applying that oral technique he is famous for....

This thread sure took off...haha

It would be awesome to have one of those primo camping spots and make it like a yearly family tradition to go to the races.

Last year we got very lucky, and managed to book a couple of rooms at the intercontinental clement right on cannery row. It was probably one of the nicest hotels I've stayed and and my room window was right over cannery row. Might not be the best idea if you want to be asleep before 11, but it was awesome.

The best part is, we got 2 rooms @ $500 each a night...but it was all free cause of the **** ton of rewards points we had built up. Cha ching!

Since it took forever to get all those points I have a feeling this year we'll be looking more towards something like travel lodge haha.

Those of you that aren't fortunate enough to get a camping spot, where does everyone normally stay?
