Depends on the price. If it's going to cost $120, then past. It's just a back pack. I used at Nike back pack that hugs well to keep it from flapping. $30.

^ Yea but it comes with a handy helmet carrier and magnets to slap it on ur tank. And I can get it for $87 on ebay.

For that price you can get a tank bag and a back pack and hold even more stuff. You can strap your helmet to your backpack by the top loop or one of the shoulder straps.

Yes I have owned that bag for almost a year now and I like it quite a bit. I really am not usually a fan of ICON stuff in general so I was hesitant but I needed a good sized tank bag before the Laguna Seca GP trip last year and it fit the bill nicely. It has a nice rubberized pad under it the contacts your tank so it doesn’t scratch it that also folds back underneath the bag in pack pack mode to carry and protect a helmet. I also like the big map pocket on top of the unit, I have been stuffing my GPS in there lately on any longer trips. I rode down to Sherman Oaks 2 weeks ago and it fit a pair of vans and a change of clothes really easily. It also does a fairly good job of staying put, even on bumpy roads and has a safety strap that ties it to the bike in case it bails.

I read somewhere that wearing a backpack on a bike isn't a good idea? I heard that it can cause severe back injuries even in very mild and low speed crashes on motorcycles? So I tend to not wear them if avoidable, although I really like the OGIO no drag backpack and want one.

Quick pics of it on my bike.

No, I wouldn't say that. I have a pair of their street boots and a pair of their jeans and like them both pretty well also (I bought them in my first year before I knew any better!). I believe it is more of the "image" that they try put forth. To me they seem to be geared more toward the MTV crowd I guess is a P.C. way of putting it? Ha, that and ALL of their leather jackets and pants combo's are LAME. Why wouldn't they make a single one that actually zips to a pair of their pants giving you the full benefit of the protective gear? Oh that's right it would cut into their bottom line and their stuff is meant for the street anyways, not the track. That kind of mentality just baffles me, so I choose to not support them for the most part.

ICON = Squid gear
Hahahahahaha but really, they have good quality gear but you do tend to see a lot of "squids"/noobs riding ICON

You guys mean to tell me that you guys don't like the ICON look that Jason Britton sports on SuperBike out in the east coast?

Cool thanks for the info, I have an Astar riding jacket and was interested in possible getting a Icon Jacket. Maybe I'll look at another Astar

Blah, blah, blah, who gives a crap about what "image" they may construe...

To talk bad about Icon gear on the grounds that they try to be to stylized is just plain silly.

I advise you to go out to a local shop and check their gear for yourself. You'll find that Icon uses probably the thickets leather in the industry. I own a lot of Icon gear, have been wearing them for years and the stuff still looks as good as new.

I also happen to have the urban backpack, it holds a lot of stuff, including up to a 15" laptop if needed. Even though it is big, the straps up front really keep the bag in place. I wore mine to Laguna last year and was amazed at how much stuff I can fit in there.

I also mentioned that their jackets don't zip to their pants fully either but no crack @ that? Ya know something along the lines of "You don't need them to zip together, WTF?? A big road rash scar above your plumber's crack will give you the motivation to keep that sucker covered eh?" Ha. I'm pretty sure that I expect more from a mohawk wearing, Icon loving, ***** stirring up squid such as yourself? :p :D LOL.

Ha all B.S. aside I would recommend looking back into the Alpinestar stuff or Dainse or even some Joe rocket stuff or others. Call me crazy but I prefer to spend my money with a company that is more concerned with protecting me and producing top quality gear for the street and the track that has a known quality that can speak for itself than a company obviously spending it on a huge marketing campaign and market research so they can be what? "Stylized"? phhttht, I'd rather be safe.

Most all leather jackets these days are 1.2-1.4mm thick, that's not really a trade secret. Where I believe the major difference is in the quality of the stitching, single double triple stitching??, and the quality of the thread that was used to stitch it. How thick the panels are makes no difference if they don't stay sewn together while sliding across pavement no?

Just buy the dam thing. It's good and it'll do it's job. No one's going to say otherwise. Everyone has their preferences. I have mine. You have yours. And they have theirs.

Cow is cow. Unless the the Italian cow is wine and dine compared to the Kansas cow.

striperish?Yeah, other than those strange chaps they made a few years ago, their stuff doesn't seem stripperish to me. Cycletease has a few of their jackets, I guarantee you that she wouldn't wear anything stripperish .. :)

Never had the back pack, but have had other ICON gear. A pair of super duty boots and helmet. I still have the boots and have them for almost 4 years they are worn out now, but not bad for four years. The helmet well it was ok not my favorite.

Icon makes gear for the street, last time I looked my jeans don't have a zipper on the back. Icon jackets are longer in the arms and back, much more comfortable for the street. Funny, I see a lot of people bad mouth Icon, but look around, other manufactures have changed up a lot of their style to match Icon's more personal edge. Stitching, show me where Icon's stitching is lacking? Have you ever held one of their jackets in your hand and actually looked at it? Sure, their styles are not suitable to everyone, especially the ricky racer wannabees out there that think track gear is the only thing to save you from the street.

I've been down many times in the street, wearing much less protection than I do now. I feel that my Icon gear will protect me just as good as any other gear for the street. It's strong, comfy and fits my mood when out riding. When it comes to riding my bike, I can really care less what people think about me or what I happen to be wearing. I'm not doing it for anyone else but me and I have a tendency to do what make me happy and not worrying what other people may think.

If you don't like Icon that's fine, but don't try to bad mouth the products without really having any knowledge about them yourself.

Every piece, every gear fits everyone differently. Whenever I'm in the market for a new leather jacket. I've always strongly looked at Alpinestars because of their reputation and quality. But every time, I tried an Alpinestars jacket on, it's just not me. Doesn't fit me right. But dam, them Alpinestars sure look good on other people. Just take a look at Jeremy in his track photo. What a stud. Just look at the stud below.

But since it doesn't fit me as well as it does my friends, I usually end up buying Dainese instead because the Daineses fit me much better.

Some guys don't like Frank Thomas jackets because they said they would rather have Astar and Dainese over Frank Thomas. But when I tried Frank Thomas's jacket with the titanium in it, dam I was sold. That FT fit me so well and it looked really good. I guess part of all this is that both those two brands has a certain style and fit that suits me. **** man, I'm old and I like the stealth look. Then non-flashy look.

I have had an ICON super duty glove in the past. I went down with that pair of gloves and I'm happy to say that, that ICON glove held up. Some official reviews said that my super duty gloves were okay for $45, but that they will tear in the event of a crash. Well, perhaps the reviews said that, but my pair held up. In regards to ICON's jackets... nothing wrong with them. I just haven't found one that I like or that fits me (non-flashy). That's all. I don't own one nor am I looking for one or desire one. :)

We all have our own taste and style. Some guys like having sponsors all over their bikes and their jacket. Some guys don't. Ride what you want to ride. Wear what you want to wear.

But if you look like a freakin banana (yellow helmet, yellow helmet visor, yellow gloves, yellow jacket, yellow pants, yellow shoes, on a yellow bike), just don't plan on me riding next to you. I don't want to be quilty by association. :D:D:D:):)

Oh, the above was just an example. :D:D Not directed at anyone if you should happen to have yellow bike.

Whoops, sorry I must apologize. I never meant to badmouth Icon's stitching but after re-reading my end of the workday rant of a post I can def. see how it "seemed" that way, ha. I to have been down, lowside, in a pair of Icon pants and a pair of the super duty boots they both held up freakin' great. I still have and wear both of them. The pants are getting pretty frayed out but they're really old and have probably close to 15k miles on em'. I actually have checked out Icon's gear really closely and the cross style stitching that they use in their seams is arguably some of the best in the industry. My stitch comment was meant to be a general statement about all leather jackets these days, sorry. Maybe mainly my falling apart frank Thomas stuff ;).

I personally don't really belive that people wearing gear that is seen on the track makes them a ricky racer wanna be either. I think that a company can learn a whole hell of a lot about what works and what doesn't work in a big hurry by going racing and performing race testing, be it in the protective gear industry or any other. I too don't like the flashy gear that makes you look like a bag of skittles or something? Ha, on the street or in the dirt but there really isn't a substitute for race testing, is there?

All that said Icon has actually done a really great thing for the motorcycling industry in general by supplying trendy or stylized or whatever you want to call it gear. I think there's quite a few riders out there that wouldn't be wearing any gear unless they thought they looked cool in it too. Say what you want about Ole' Jason Brittan as well but I have always heard him preaching about wearing at least minimal gear to all of the people he runs into. Yes, it is more of a stuntbike show and they should probably just change the name but I can watch stunting? To me almost anything on a motorcycle is entertaining as all hell.

Oh yes and I must admit BK I am also impressed @ your ability to take a fairly decent jab in the ribs from a raging *****asourase rex like me and not get all bent about it, good show dude! Thanks.

Yeah, other than those strange chaps they made a few years ago, their stuff doesn't seem stripperish to me. Cycletease has a few of their jackets, I guarantee you that she wouldn't wear anything stripperish .. :)

Hell I have jackets and pants but let me put it this way, they have ONE pair of womens riding jeans/pants and 15 different type of womens chaps or leather pants with tassels and other crap on them. That's what I mean. Not to mention that they have a really cute riding jacket (that both cycletease and I have) that can't really be worn as a rider/driver because the HUGE METAL buttons on it would scratch the CRAP out of a tank...

And who are you kidding Cycletease is a HUGE fan of stripper clothes her name is cycleTEASE! Totally kidding Cycletease! You know I love ya!
