there are everything from single cylinder thumpers to 999 Ducs and even a 'busa. you absolutely should attend this class. everybody should. awesome advice that directly translates to the street

http://www.classrides.com/

they'll be back at Streets in October, Infineon on May 12 and 13, and Laguna Seca May 26+27. prices are 275/495 it seems

EVERY bike is fun at Streets. It is TECHNICAL! If you can get around Streets in a hurry, you can get around anywhere in a hurry.

Whether you attend a structured clinic, or just hit a track day, you gotta do SOW. Other than WFO top speed, it has everything. Including passing opportunities up the wazzoo.;)

Horse Thief really is a motard track. I have never even heard of a track day out there. They did run the track on Epic Ride or something like that on Speed, but for the most part, at .9 miles long and really tight, it is motard only.

Willow Springs is a fantastic facility because it has 2 tracks right next to each other that could not be more opposite. Streets=Super Technical, not Super Fast and lots of fun. Big Track=Super Fast, not Super Technical, and lots of fun!!

Streets of Willow in a nutshell
1.8 miles, 14 turns - right hand intensive, fairly smooth, elevation changes, 20 deg banked "bowl" -turn 8-, 2 slight off camber corners, 2 sections of tossing L R L R, top speed 115 - 120, average speed 70-75, smiling good fun.

I have limited road track experience but this place is a hoot!
It is in the desert, in the summer it is HOT and it can be windy too.

aaw749r
April 30th, 2008, 10:28 PM
One of the instructors took his 600 up to the "Horse Thief Mile" and came back with this report.

1st gear only, steep inclines/declines, super tight corners, Motard Only, that track sucked on a sport bike but it sure would be fun on a Motard.

If I remember/was told correctally the track record there is 1:16 set on a 600. I was in the 1:34ish range without being terribly risky. Three weeks ago I was on softer tires and pushing much harder but I was not timed to give you a true reference but I would guess upper upper 1:20's. I could not immagine how fast a 1:16 would be on this tight track.

Aquino ran a 1:15:8x on a Graves R6 during the first round of the Streets series last month. He crashed in the same race he set the record in, but the utter obliteration of the old record kinda makes up for it imo...

It's ok though, I know I'm not one of the cool guys. :D I was thinking October since it will be a bit cooler than the summer. But I'm open to whenever. Just let me know, I'd like to do this track.

You can get to SOW in 3 hours easily, not too bad of a trip.

I'm sure that there are organizations that have track days at SOW wihtout having to attend Pridmore's CLASS and that added expence. I'll call te track and see what I can find out.

On Tuesday I accumulated 115 track miles in Pridmore's class according to my trip-o-meter which is not affected by different gearing. Monday was a little less due to 2 crashes / red flags - one involving a collar bone & ambulance the other involved much sliding, hole in case and oil on the track.

No not at all. Unless there is something seriously wrong with your bike, 102 db is HARD to get to. Laguna is another story. Most orgs REQUIRE stock exhausts as you only get so many sound infractions before they just boot you altogether.
