Karrdick's post about doing your own work made me think. With the amount of people here on the site it's good to know what others do, regardless if it's motorcycle related or not. You never know when you are gonna need a certain type of service. Since I brought it up I will start:D. You don't necesarily have to put what company you work for as that may be viewed as advertising so maybe just your trade?

I work for a fire suppression company that does everything fire related. Alarms, sprinklers, fire suppression systems(restuarants, vehicles, heavy equipment, paint booths, etc...), fire extinguishers, and commercial DOT testing. My trade is pretty specialized, so doubt I will be able to help many of you out, but for the business owners that need extinguisher's serviced or need annual inspections done im your guy...lol.

Since 1989, I've been investigating Workers Compensation Claims
aka surveillance specialist; watching those who you might say are either malingering, exaggerating or down right frauding their employer, business folk, taxpayer etc...
Of course, with that being said, there are those who truly have encountered a legit injury, resulting in a disability that at times will go through **** with the Ins. Co. for their indemnity/compensation.
Things have changed in the industry though over the last few years, so consequently, I've had to take on concurrent employment and I'm selling groceries P/T to independent markets for a friend who owns a private Manufacturers Rep Co.
High gas prices are killing me though.

I am a mechanical design engineer and right now I am designing packaging machinery, automated assembly line stuff. We use primarily SolidWorks 3D design software and I have just obtained my CSWP certification at the last SolidWorks world held in San Deigo this year. I am also very proficient with other design software platforms, Autocad 2D & 3D, Anvil 2D, VX Cad/Cam and with the software that controls the CNC's and the laser here @ work, Pro cam and Sigma nest.

If you have some ideas for a mechanical project and need some stuff laid out and drawn up I'm your man. Where I work we fabricate 95% of our parts in house and I have some access to the shop which makes working on my own projects nice.

Right now the only real project that I have going is stuffing an independent rear suspension out of an Rx7 underneath a 91' Toyota extra cab pickup. I have been drawing up the 4-link rear forever and as soon as I get into my new house w/ a new larger garage the project can finally begin!

Ha, very close but no cigar. I live and work out in Sanger, not Fresno, that should be the clue that you need. I don't think the guys over @ Elliot get to do the R&D design work that we get to do here, for better of worse (R&D is only fun when it actually works!) and I don't think they have a cutting laser yet either but I'm not to sure? They definitely don't offer wrap-around style machinery, which is what I've been lucky enough to specialize in for a few years now. Although now I am working on an intermittent motion auto load machine that has to stuff 100 sheets of sandwich wrapping wax paper into a box and close it, talk about a brain burner!

Up-right huh? My manager and a few co-workers were engineers over at Up-right until they closed down. Well he used to be my manager any ways, we just got a new one.

Yes I noticed all of the metal working tools that you had made available on the tools sharing thread and thought to myself, hmmmm... I wonder what programmes he is controlling that CNC plasma cutter with, Ha. Oh yes, very very very cool of you to make any of your metal tooling devices available to us as well, Thanks bunches. If you ever need any help in picking new software to run your stuff I was just exposed to the latest and greatest @ the Solidworks World thingy. They had almost a fair like midway of vendors showing off way cool new stuff!

anyone does a/c service for cars ?:D

There is a really good shop here in Hanford that I can recommend... Always been very honest in dealings we've had with them (more than I can say for a couple a/c shops in Tulare county in the past... but thats another story).

I am a tax analyst/auditor. I am a contracted employee for 152 different Jurisdictions in CA. I monitor Sales tax Data to make sure it is going to the correct city/county. I mainly fight with the State Board of Equalization. They make lots of mistakes. As most people say after I tell them what I do They call me the tax police.
Been doing it for 10 years looking to change. I want to do something with my hands. Something that at the end of the day there is something to show you have worked not just paper. But it pays the bills and well I am good at it

Swankster
could you call or PM if they send you out to watch me ?

Its NOT good to have more metal in your back than your bike!

When I lived in Visalia in the 90's, the pastor of our church had some BIG screws in his back from years of plaster work.. they eventually ended up taking his back out... he kept them and would show them off

I dont know.. I know he said he felt better after they removed them, he had less pain...
I think they replaced them with some other sort of support but I dont remember, its been about 10 or 12 years I think...

I remember he carried the screws around in a container for a week or two showing them off when they were out... They were BIG screws!

They likely removed the hardware and fused that area.
I'm sure he has little mobility though.

I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to make light of your pastor's pain... but when I first read it, your post read like they took his back out... not that they took the screws out of his back...

Wow!
I dont have nearly that kind of back problem! I have trouble leaning over too far for the bars also due to back issues, but you have had so much more on your back I cant imagine what you go through on too much of a lean!
