Twas a great day pho sho! Thanks again to Trackdaz for putting on a good day. The wind was hella strong, but it was all good. The only real downer was a red flag in each of the first four B group sessions. I gotta get my butt in A group! Thanks Dan, Houa and Brian. You guys rock.

You sure punked that guy in turn 3. Did you used to race motocross? That was a classic motocross stuff, but on sportbikes that is just wrong. or were you just jealous because his bike had not been down at least 4 times on the track.

You usually are, ... on your butt in the first lap or 2 due to the pirelli guy lieing to you, not enough ram air, or some other funny story.

I didn't mean to. I felt really bad. After the contact at turn 3 and going up towards turn 4a, the red flag came up and I just knew. .
I hung out with Jeremy and Brian. It was a very good day except for the 40 mph cross winds that made it very hard going through turn 8. Now I understand what Poach meant by those nasty winds.

Oh I know.
I witness Jeremy doing the same thing you did coming out of Turn 2 wide. He took his bike off roading all the way the inside and almost dump it. Then again he went wide later in the after noon because he was watching some girl and the instructor at turn 2 too.

I totally admit to dirt farming, but I was never almost close to dumping it. If I had been, I woulda had to change my shorts. Get it right pal! :D

Dan, the thing is, it's up to the rider that is behind to make a safe pass. I wouldn't exactly say that the rider "was not apexing" the turn. In fact, I saw other riders turn in much later than that. The better option would have been to play it safe and apply the brakes earlier. With the horsepower your bike has you would have had to sit behind him a few more corners and then dust him down the back straight. Food for thought.

Agreed, I got hit from behind last year in race practice cause the guy came in hot and took me out, damn I was pissed. You basically just ran into the guy cause you were traveling at a speed faster than him and didn't check up. You gotta remember, since your not in A group most guys don't hold lines, they brake early, will just park it in corners, not drive out of corners and some don't even know about an apex. You gotta pay alot of attention out there. Your lucky that guy didn't come look for you in the pits. I hope you at least went and had a good apology for the guy afterwards. Hope you learned from that and lucky you didn't go down also.

I play it pretty conservative when I overtake, maybe too conservative, but I don't wanna have any contact. Plus, I don't trust anyone out there for the reasons you cited above (heck, I'm still working on hitting the same line every lap). I usually am content to wait a few corners and let my bike's power take care of it. Then I can get back to having fun again.

Very good way to approach a trackday. When I control ride in B group (as I have said before B group is the scariest group) I have my head on a swivel and really make careful and safe passes. The worse thing you can do is pass someone "hard" and it startles them and they take you out, cause I have seen that happen also. Sounds like Dustin and Karrdick are now best friends so I am sure Dustin gave him good advice and lecturing that I hope was all taken to heart.

Nah Derik. It's still on youtube. It's just set to private viewing only. Come on man. You and I both know you sign a waiver when stepping out on the track.
I have all the respects for you and the wisers. You're absolutely right. There's a risk every day when we wake up. And it's even more prevalent when you commit to putting yourself on the track. I know and do respect the worst and best that can happen to me or anyone out there. Hense the track organizations have everyone sign a waiver before being allow to ride. I haven't been to a track day that hasn't had one wreck. There's always a wreck. It's just known and it's expected. Everyone scrubs it off when one does occurred. No one goes crying out there (both riders and none riders). I would assume only one that does the crying is a "one" not in the know here.
This place is a friendly place of brothers to come and share info and ideas.
I didn't post it up for some fool (not you Derik) who has no clue of the multiple dynamics of what's involve at high speeds (the multiple data and variables that's being processed in your head regarding your next move) to make an assessment call of what happen from a short video clip that only shows one dimension of what happen 2 seconds before a contact. The video leaves out the other senses such as temperature for the day, wind impact on riding stituation and braking, sight, smell, touch, etc. But yet if I'm going to be judge by a fool on here, then it's something that I didn't sign up for. And respecting the friends on here, the mods, and the admin, I choice not to participate in anything that may sprout negativity. Give me feed back both positive and negative, that's great. I welcome that. Don't know me but yet want to condemn me with "stupid", not worth my time to commune with.
I didn't intentionally run someone off the track. I don't go out there to do that. I go out to ride and to better myself and to walk away from every track day being better and more knowledgeable. I look forward on every track day to learn and take heed from the vets like you, calkidd, poach, and everyother staff member of a track organization. Many times though, the best learning experiences are also from the mistake made. And I will say that I've learn from each and everyone of those incidents. Thankfully, there's been no repeats. :) And really, sometimes I don't even want to ride but kick back and bath in the moment of being in the company all the great friends out there.
But due to a series of events and circumstances this particular day, it lead up to that unfortunate mishap. Please don't make a quick judgement of what happened from a short 5 second film clip right before the contact. There's a lot of things all going on at the same time: speed, braking, bike positioning, corner entry, running out of realstate, a 40 mph cross wind, etc etc. And if you do watch the video, I didn't run into the guy. The guy turned into my right side. Like my conversation with Dustin, there's two parties....

Dan, quit BSing us with all this, your car salesman occupation is showing. Plain and simple, you once agian took an unnecessary risk and instead of it hurting you this time it hurt someone else. Be a man and take credit for your actions. It was clear on the video that passed much too close to another rider causing contact and him to go off track and crash. Other track riders on this forem saw and said the same thing. What the heck does temp, time of day, taste, and smell have to do with this incident. You could try to blame it on the wind but knowing the prevailing wind direction and where you were on the track & hillside and the direction you were going the wind has very little to no effect on the bikes. The pirelli guy didn't lie to you, you straight screwed up.

Ray, this is where a clearification needs to be made. I never said it wasn't my fault. Every one of my post said it was my fault.
And about this man stuff. I don't need hear that. Not cool. If you meant what you meant, not cool. If I'm reading it wrong and taking it the wrong way, my apologise to you. I'll call you later about it.
Let me just say, it was the very first thing I did at the track. I went up in front of 30 riders and a full staff crew and made it clear that it was my fault the very minute after that.
About tires, lets clear that up too. No one said the dude lied to me. Gave a recommendation that wasn't the best for me...perhaps. I'm sure we all have giving out honest recommendations that was proper at sometime and then later found out to be not so good. That doesn't meant that it was lie. I never said the dude lied to me. But I did say the dude recommended 32-34 cold (been a long time, can't remember exactly, but know it wasn't 28 cold) and that would mean 35 - 37 hot. Ray, have you ever rode 35 hot (none street)? Maybe that was a good recommendation. But for me, no.
I'd screwed up Ray. Things (shi+) happens.

I think my mistake here was not making it clear to the forum members that I did take responsibility at the track in front of 40-50 people.
Even asked Dustin if he wanted to sit me out and bench me for the day, it was his call. And I was perfectly willing to accept his decision to do so.

He could sue his ass for whatever he has.
.
I wasn't there, nor have I seen the vid...so I cannot speak to the right/wrong of what happened out there that day.
But one thing's for sure...the day a rider can sue another rider, or track day org for negligence is the day motorcycle track day activities are gone forever.
I know you feel strongly about what you saw(i'm assuming) on the vid. I'm sure your resultant displeasure has contributed the the "sue" statement. But if it ever comes to pass that litigation becomes part of the track day process...it's all over. Because no track day org, or right minded individual for that matter, would ever expose themselves to litigation based on "perceptions" on the race track. Maybe uncle dan's issue was black and white...cut and dry. But I can tell you with absolute confidence that the determinatin of the at fault party in most track incidents can only be based on the perception of events by witnesses and those involved. This would include even vid tape imo.
I didn't quote you because I dislike you or have some chicken**** axe to grind. In fact, based on your posts, I'm inclined to believe we're more alike than different in our attitudes and philosophies. But if litigation ever becomes part of the track day scene...there will be a whole host of negative consequences.

You know I guess I opened that "sue" can of worms when I asked if he took it down cause he thought the guy could use it against him in court. I was totally joking around and I was not at all serious with that comment. I was trying to show a buddy that lives down the street that races moto-X cause he would have enjoyed watching a move like that, which you see all the time in Moto-X. What my comment actually stemed from was a video that came out called Bar Room Babes and Brawls and I was on the video smacking a dude around after he yelled at and slapped his girlfriend in the face at a night club were I was bouncing. People use to mess with me and tell me the dude could use the video to sue me. I just laughed it off.
