Ok, so I purchased my first pair of leather pants. Went with the Alpinestars Track Pants size 34 US. I need some insight into fit. Normally I wear a 33 or 34 in pants/jeans (waist is a 33"). When trying on the track pants I first tried the 34. They were darn tight through the thigh and hip. Waste wasn't too bad and the calf wasn't too bad. I tried the 36, which felt more comfortable and gave more range of movement. But it had that looser feel. Nobody at Cycle Gear knew anything about how they were supposed to fit. In the end, I went with the 34. I went for a ride with them and felt really restricted. It was hard to move around on the bike. Heck, it was hard just to get my feet up to the pegs when pulling away from a stop.

My question, how should they fit?

My dilema, should I go with the 36, or should I try the 34 tall, which I'd have to order. I'm 6'1 and about 170.

Or, is this normal and I just need to break them in? In need of help, thanks.

When I first got into my 2 piece leathers I had the same problems, I had a hell of a time finding stuff that even halfway fit - 6'5" 225lbs. When I first started breaking the pants in I could barley get my legs up, but as I rode a while in them they really broke in nicely and are almost loose now.

You want the leathers to fit as snugly as you can stand them, almost like a second skin. I have heard that if they are to loose you can actually get road rash from moving around inside your suit. The length really isn't all that important as most boots are have pretty tall uppers, my A-star SMX's come way up the calf.

here is a good read on how stuff should fit ..

Best of luck in your search

Thanks for the link and the opinion! My thought on the tall size was it would give me a bit more movement perhaps without changing the fit too much. But at 6'1 it's not like I'm that tall.

I'll chime in as I have struggled with this a bit myself. I got a Teknic 1-piece that fits me pretty snug but as you say, manageable. I thought "Aww it's supposed to be snug." But it really is not all that comfortable. I have been down in it twice and still got a bit of rash, even though it's snug, I think it just comes with the territory. Falling just hurts. If I had it to do over again I would have sent it back for the next size up, just because I have got to dreading squeezing my fat a$$ into it.

I say, exchange them for the next larger size.

The best way to go is to get a custom suit :D Z Leather, Zooni. Pilot. I believe Pilot Leathers is the cheapest suit you can buy for approximately $800.00.

You can take your measurements and then send your measurements to them. Or you can go to their office in person and have it done.

Just picked my A-star suit from Zooni leathers. Had it fitted in the legs. Juan shortened the legs, moved the knees up, and tightened the calf. Snug but not tight. Next suit will be a Zooni. Come on tax refund.

Just picked my A-star suit from Zoomi leathers. Had it fitted in the legs. Juan shortened the legs, moved the knees up, and tightened the calf. Snug but not tight. Next suit will be a Zoomi. Come on tax refund.

How much did you pay for that? I need to shorten the legs and bring the knees/pucks up a bit!

I need my suit altered too, but I need the pucks out a bit so they will touch the pavement :p. 4-5" should do the trick.

What's the # and/or address? That's a lot cheaper than what other people have quoted me. Furthermore, how long did it take?:D
