well guy's I have been off work for over a year waiting to get in for back surgery. and today I got a call from the doctors office saying they have an opening . FOR MONDAY ! ! ! I've been saying I would like to get it done and over with. but now that the time has came I'm a little nerves. I have three disc that are bad in my lower back, my right foot is numb and or hurting all of the time my left heel feels like I have a pebble in my shoe when I walk. top that off with all kinds of pain in my lower back when I walk, set around , drive my truck.
I do better on my Z1k as long as I don't try to ride to far :( the ZL9 gets to me WHEN I ride it .
I heal fast and I'm in Ok shape , I know I'll be OK and I know I'll feel a lot better after this is done ! ! !
It's just hard to relax tonight . with all the thoughts of what "IF" rolling throw my mind
This is a workmens comp case  my frist one and hopefully my last :(

Relax about it.

Seriously, look at it like this: You are feeling sorry for yourself because you have a bad back, but that is until you see a guy in a wheelchair.

Hard to complain when you are going to be feeling better than you have in a long, long time and able to function fully as a result. Agreed?

It's actually looking like everything is turning out just right for ya, now that I mention it!

Good luck :)

KRAYZ1Call the OR at the hospital where you are going to have the surgery. When the operator answers just say "OR Please.." When they put you up to the OR, ask to talk to the charge RN in the operating room. Ask that nurse for three names of anesthesiologists she would allow her to put her to sleep. Call the referring Dr or surgeon's office and have them request that Anesthesiologist.

You'll be glad you did.

Nowadays, doctors in the USA do so many procedures that they have become a daily activity for them. Furthermore, technology is so much better and a lot of surgeries don't even require for the patient to be hospitalized.

I know some peeps that had back surgeries and they went home the same day and the surgery helped them tremendously.;)

Don't kid yourself, backs are an art normally reserved for neurosurgeons and advanced orthopaedic surgeons. It's good to research the procedure they intend to do on you and ask pertinent questions related to the intended outcomes. Most patients level of sofistication does not enable them to ask the right questions. Find some RNs in the field who knows the surgeon and anesthesiologists and ask them what the scoop is. DO NOT be afraid to put the surgery on hold until you have had all your questions answered to your satisfaction.

Backs are nothing to mess around with...

Ali Najafi is the neurosurgeon doing my surgery he is on the top of the list, I was told he is the best in Fresno. I will be going to Saint Agnes Medical Center for the surgery. The nurse doing my pre-op today said he did her surgery last year .
Now I was at his office today going over what he is going to do. eight screws and two rods.
He also asked me how I stand the pain I have to be in ? one disc is gone and it looks as if it's bone on bone.
And get this he said I will be an inch taller when he is done ...LOL..
I feel a lot better about this today then I .

Always nice to hear someone in a chipper mood after a major surgery. Now just take it easy and do exactly what the doctor says to recover. You have nothing to gain by pushing too hard in the early days. Don't worry, the pain will come, but let's hope it is just from the operation. Summer days are on their way!!!
