Went over after work to check out the RC8. First thing you notice when on the bike is the hard seat. The dash is cool, more info than I need.

20k is way to much to ask.

i really don't like the look. i'm sure the perfomance is awesome, but the whole squared off edge thing looks bad a$$ on the dirtbikes.... just not on the sportbike. the bike looks like an origami thing.

As a hardcore KTM guy, Im very disappointed. This bike was supposed to put a certain Italian bike manufacturer on the ropes. FAIL. This bike should be 16800+ other BS. I would get a 1098 Tri or HP2 sport before buying this orange bike.

I'll buy a 1098R before I spend $30K on a RC8, which doesn't even match a regular 1098's performance.

I don't think KTM will be selling many of them either. Too bad since I was anxiuos about the RC8 coming out, but with a $30k price tag, I'll go Ducati.

BTW, I wouldn't spend 20G's on it, although I DO like its look.
Frankly, most of the full fairing ricers look the same.
Just me, who rides a freakie lookin but different bike anyways.

What does Wilson's want for a 1098? I believe that MSRP is

1098 = $15,995 1098S = $19,995 & the 1098R = $39,995

I have seen the MSRP of the KTM listed @ $19,995 as well but not from a reliable source so???

I must agree that I would probably spend my hard earned cash on a 1098 and definitely on a 1098S before I could okay an RC8 purchase, is the WP suspension up to snuff? I hope that KTM sells a few of them I do like the looks of the bike and just love v-twin sportbikes in general.

I think the fact that it is a brand new bike, with prolly alot of bugs to work out (knowing ktm's, lol) is what turns me off in addition to the price. Prolly going to be really hard to get parts, or even find someone to work on them for awhile also.

Lil update yo: there are 7 in CA, 42 in the US, next shipment of RC8's are due on showrooms in May 09. If the infamous $30K RC8 sells, Wilsons will be raising the price of theirs.

checked out the orange one at laguna seca and I was'nt too impressed, tank and front fender are flat orange, uppers are glossy metalflake and the rear is black. Throw in first year bugs and thats a big "no thank you".
