Great idea, slow to deploy, should fill in milliseconds.
The ultra fast auto airbag deployment mechanism is very expensive though.
Perhaps 2 CO2 cartridges filling from 2 locations.
Beats a wife beater and flip flops.

A couple years ago this technology was studied at a conference of moto gear manufacturers in Vegas. Engineers picked it apart finding flaw after flaw as to why it could never work. I remember reading the article but I can't remember all the details.
What I do remember is that the rider has to separate from the moto for it to operate, which means you've already suffered an initial impact. That's not good. They also proved that triggering the device under all circumstances was not possible. The other thing that came up was the rate of inflation. In order to inflate such a device fast enough, it resulted in the generation of heat. Enough heat that would burn the person wearing the jacket. You can't generate or move than much air fast enough through a system without generating a lot of heat.
Last I heard the investors were not happy that the the jacket was picked apart like that. Shortly there after the guy who started the company disappeared with what was left of the capitol. He actually tried to partner up with Wayne at Motoport but Wayne thought the product was a lost cause.

I dont see why they couldnt install impact senors on the front, back and sides of the bike in addition to the tether and insulate the bags with a liner. :confused2:

It's a great idea like Ray said, maybe two Co2 cartridges would make it deploy in half the time.

You can't generate or move than much air fast enough through a system without generating a lot of heat.My buddy had an accident once and the bag was deployed. It burned all the hair off his arms from when he was holding the steering wheel. It also left at nice heat burn for a few days. Image that heat and friction all over you chest and neck. YIKES!
The best defense against motorcycle injuries still remains... choose a good offense.

The best defense against motorcycle injuries still remains... choose a good offense.I think I have to agree here. The accidents I would have Been in, I am sure that would not have deployed until after the initial impact. Generally the bike and the rider impact at almost the same time. I dont see any benefit from an impact with an auto or any other direct impact. I still like the Goldwing Idea of it on the Bike instead. Unfortunately most of us don't have the room of a Goldwing on our bikes for this option.
