Thinking about going for ride Saturday, starting at sunrise and doing the following route:

Any thoughts? Suggestions on alternate roads that might be interesting? Hey and what's that burger place in Mariposa that everyone talks about?

Yikes, Hwy 41 is horrible, if you want to take that route into the park, I would at least go out through Friant, up Road 211 (Oneal's road), then right on Road 200 to Northfolk, and then Left on Road 274 back to Hwy 41.

The stretch from Oakhurst to the Yosemite valley is long, and usually full of traffic. Maybe not so much at that early in the morning, but you never know.

Hwy 140 is open fully after the rock slide last year, but you may have to wait 15 minutes at the single lane bypass if you hit it at the wrong time. It's a nice trek down along the river and my preferred way of getting to Yosemite Valley. :)

Happy Burger is the place to eat in Mariposa, you'll pass it on the left as you first enter Mariposa on Hwy 140.

Ben Hur to Raymond is nice, pretty choppy for a few miles in the middle due to cattle wrangling on the road. There were a few fresh patches so watch it on the corners. We were just there on Sunday, the fresh patches might be gone by next weekend.

Past Raymond you're looking at dry desolate straight roads till you get to Madera. If you take a left on Raymond Road (Rd 415) heading to Coarsgold, you can turn on Road 400 which will take you down around the lake and ends up on Hwy 145 a few miles outside of Madera. A much more interesting ride than straight down Road 600.

Just my thoughts, should be a great ride anyway you make it. Wish I could join you.

Hey thanks for the feedback. Yeah the beginning and end of the ride were looking pretty bleak. I think I may take your advice on those sections.

And yeah, if anyone is up for joining me, you're more than welcome.

Ok the ride is set! We have 5 confirmed riders and possibly two more. Of course everyone is welcome.

We'll meet at starbucks in Riverpark (the old one) and plan to hit the road by around 7am.

Here's the planned map... of course this is subject to change as we go depending on how everyone feels:

If anyone wants to join, show up or drop me an email at dana@pellerin.com so I know to expect you.

Should be fun!
